Campus Advisory: College Monitoring Hurricane Ian

By | September 26, 2022

Dear Campus Community,

College of Charleston leaders continue to closely track the path and forecast for Hurricane Ian. At this time, the College remains on its normal operating schedule for this week. Any adjustments to class and/or event schedules would be communicated to campus through the Cougar Alert emergency notification system and posted at emergency.cofc.edu.

While we do not yet know exactly what the storm’s impact may be on Charleston and our campus, forecasters are currently predicting heavy rain, gusty winds and localized flooding in our area, beginning as early as Wednesday and continuing into Saturday. Flooding conditions locally could also be impacted by high tides, making some roads impassable.

At this time, please ensure that your personal and emergency contact information are up to date by clicking on the “Personal Information” tile in MyPortal.

The South Carolina Emergency Management Division maintains valuable hurricane information and resources on its website at hurricane.sc. Stay tuned to local media and the National Weather Service’s Charleston Office for the latest forecast.

Sincerely,

CofC Emergency Management Team
