CofC Launches New COVID-19 Safety App

By | August 24, 2020

President Andrew Hsu shared send the following message to the campus community on Monday, Aug. 24, 2020:

Dear Campus Community,

I’m pleased to announce that the College of Charleston is launching a new smart phone app today that will assist us in keeping our campus community healthy and informed during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Students, faculty and staff can download the free mobile app on their iPhone or Android devices by searching for the Everbridge app in the App Store or Google Play. Be sure to download the correct Everbridge app pictured below.

A CofC email address is required to use the app. Instructions for configuring and using the app are contained here on The College Today and also on our Back on the Bricks website.

The app currently has three main features:

  • A Daily Wellness Check that members of campus will be reminded to complete each day if they plan to be on campus. The College will begin sending these notification alerts to students, faculty and staff beginning Tuesday, August 25.
  • A COVID-19 Symptom Checker that can be used by those who may have been exposed to COVID-19.
  • A Self-Report function for reporting a positive COVID-19 test.

The app was developed with Everbridge through a collaboration among our Information Technology and University Communications divisions and other campus offices. Further announcements to campus will be made as additional features are added to the app.

I urge everyone to download and use this new tool to help keep our campus safe.

Sincerely,

Andrew

Andrew T. Hsu, Ph.D.
