Community Advisory: Inclement Weather – Flooding Precautions and Road Closures

Dear Campus Community,

In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Act, the Department of Public Safety is informing the College of Charleston campus of Inclement Weather – Flooding Precautions and Road Closures.

Incident Description: We are presently experiencing a cell of heavy rainfall that has required the closure of several roadways in the downtown area due to flooding.  The rain is forecast to continue until 4:00 PM today; possibly later.  The roads will remain closed until the water has receded and it is safe to pass through.

Please note that the College of Charleston campus remains on its normal schedule.

Precautionary Actions:

  • Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles
  • Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive or walk on flooded roadways.
  • Take necessary actions to protect flood-prone property.

Monitor local weather stations and the National Weather Service for the latest updates.
