Community Advisory: Road Closures for Cooper River Bridge Run

By | September 24, 2021

Dear Campus Community,

Starting today and throughout this weekend you will see a significant increase in both pedestrian and foot traffic in downtown Charleston. The Cooper River Bridge Run will take place tomorrow, Saturday, Sept. 25, 2021. While the race participation this year is limited to 25,000 participants, there will be an added influx of guests and spectators in our city.

Starting tonight at 10 p.m. many roadways near campus will be closed to traffic to allow for the construction of the finish line and emergency services near the TD Arena on Meeting Street. In addition, starting at 4 a.m. Saturday morning all vehicles parked on the race route downtown will be towed.

You should not park in any restricted areas (meters which are bagged, etc.) as cars will be towed from those sites. Please see the link to the Bridge Run website below for additional information about road closures, including the closure of the Ravenel Bridge at 7 a.m. Saturday morning.

It is anticipated that all roadways will reopen to normal traffic flow by 2 p.m. on Saturday.
