By | August 2, 2020

The College of Charleston Emergency Management Team continues to monitor the track of Tropical Storm Isaias.

A tropical storm warning is in effect for Charleston and surrounding counties, with tropical storm force winds (39 – 73 mph), significant rainfall, storm surge and coastal flooding possible for the Charleston area beginning Monday afternoon and into Monday night.

The storm is expected to produce up 3 to 6 inches of rain, which if combined with a high tide at 9 p.m. Monday could produce major coastal flooding. Storm surge of 2 to 4 feet is also possible.

College officials continue to coordinatwith Charleston County and City of Charleston emergency management teams regarding impacts to the Charleston region. At this time, the College remains in a modified Phase 2 of its Return to Work on Campus plan, with most campus employees continuing to work remotely due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Essential employees should check with their supervisors regarding any adjustments to work schedules for Monday.

Any further adjustments to College operations for Monday and Tuesday will be communicated through the College’s Cougar Alert system and posted on emergency.cofc.edu.

New Student and Family Orientation sessions scheduled for Monday and Tuesday will continue to take place virtually as planned.
